Simply... Winning The Mind Game: Hypnosis and Sport Psychology
Sport is most often played best when simple yet eloquent. So too both hypnosis and sport psychology! This pre-congress workshop will teach 3 easy and highly effective ways to
hypnotize a client, 4 ways to teach a client how to give themselves self suggestions for
maximum performance, and provide protocols that allow sport psychologists to work with
an athlete in any sport, with any problem, at any phase of their career. Examples will be
provided from sports such as figure skating, football (American soccer), wrestling, squash,
rugby, equestrian etc. This workshop will include lecture, video, demonstration, practice
exercises, and music!

The fundamentals of integrated mental training (IMT) – a longterm self-hypnotic training
Integrated Mental Training was developed by Uneståhl at Uppsala University during
the 60:s. The name in Sweden was ”Mental Training”, while it became known in other
countries as IMT (Inner or Integrated Mental Training) or ”The Swedish Model”)
Characteristics:
1. IMT is based on a special state for change and development, characterized by an
alternative state of consciousness (hypnosis - self-hypnosis, operationally defined
as the “Inner Mental Room”), in which the brain way of working is changed in a
quantitative as well as a qualitative way.
2. IMT contains a systematical, long-term and evaluated training of mental processes
(Thoughts, Images, Attitudes) combined with an inner state of activation and emotions.
3. The goal of IMT is to define a ”better life”, to find the characteristics of and the criteria
behind and to develope a training with the purpose of creating a ”better Life”.
4. IMT is future oriented, solution directed and action based
5. IMT also contains a special Philosophy and a ”new Lifestyle”. One part of that is to
replace the clinical model (where interventions are problembased) with a developmental
model directed to all people.
6. IMT also replace the old concept of ”insight”, where the present is a consequence of
the past (”blocking insight”) with a ”developmental insight model”, where the present
becomes a starting point for an attractive future.
7. IMT is applied to all areas of developmental issues as well as problemsolving. Some åprograms can variate depending on targetgroups and dependen on age. Special projects
are continously running – from Life preparatory programs in preschool – to Life Quality
programs for seniors.
